One Maidstone is once again taking to the streets to clean up the town centre, with contractors Maidstone Borough Council undertaking a targeted deep clean on behalf of the Business Improvement District. (BID)
Wednesday 29th January will see partner organisations One Maidstone, MBC and KCC spend a day on King Street, to concentrate on tasks such as gum and graffiti removal, removal of all litter and rubbish, power washing of street, repainting, delivery of new bins and licensing visits for A-Boards and tables and chairs.
One Maidstone’s BID Manager, Ilsa Butler said:
“It’s incredibly important to the town centre businesses that we represent that the area is kept clean and attractive. We believe that a visually appealing and visitor-friendly appearance encourages more trade, both from local shoppers and workers, and brings more tourism to the area. Whilst the Council already maintains regular cleaning services, these deep cleans provide extra polish and tackle tasks that aren’t covered by the standard responsibilities of MBC.”
The contract was awarded to MBC by One Maidstone after a successful application was made by the Council during the tender process. The Council are employed by One Maidstone to perform cleaning duties outlined by the BID in addition to their standard Street Cleansing operations. This partnership working between leading agencies and authorities ensures that the best level of service is delivered by those who know Maidstone best.
The previous two days of cleaning action deployed by One Maidstone took place in Bank Street, and Lower High Street. Other areas throughout the town centre will be attended to in similar exercises throughout the year.
Press are welcome to attend – alternatively, images taken by One Maidstone on the day will be available for distribution.
