Mayor celebrates town centre trade with One Maidstone and Gullands Solicitors
The Mayor of Maidstone, Cllr Marion Ring, was guest of honour at an evening reception celebrating business within the town centre, and the work of the One Maidstone Business Improvement District.
BID Manager Ilsa Butler feels it is important to recognise the good work that is taking place within the town: “This event, in collaboration with Gullands, gives us the chance to showcase the projects that One Maidstone are carrying out, to those who they most effect. It’s important that we’re all moving forwards together, which is why we have guests from partner organisations we work closely with present tonight, such as Kent Police, Maidstone Borough Council and the Mall, as well as local businesses and entrepreneurs. By bringing these agencies together, we can showcase the work of the BID, and also continue to find new ways of improving Maidstone for those who operate and trade here.”
The Worshipful Mayor of Maidstone is happy to support the work of One Maidstone, and took the chance to meet BID Ambassadors, Kris Davison and Suraj Gurang, who patrol the town centre to deal with incidences of anti-social behaviour, provide information to the public, and support town centre stores.
Cllr Ring said of the occasion: “Maidstone town centre is such a vibrant place to live and work, and we need to do our best for the businesses who use it as a base, as well as encouraging new retailers and organisations to set up here. I’m impressed by the projects that One Maidstone are carrying out on behalf of town centre businesses, such as the flower displays that brightened up my view from the Town Hall over the summer! I’m looking forward to attending the One Maidstone Christmas lights switch on event in Jubilee Square next month!”
The event, held at Maidstone Museum, also offered guests the opportunity to view the latest football themed exhibition, Maidstone: United in Football, a display which has been sponsored by Gullands Solicitors.
